I’m no Jim Murray. I don’t publish a Whisky Bible. However I’m the first whisky blogger in Turkey, a whisky enthusiast and it’s a passion of mine to write in whisky culture. I normally blog in Turkish but this year I tasted almost 200 incredible whiskies so I wanted to share my Top 20 Whiskies of 2015 in English (I dont think many people speak Turkish but in case you’re interested in the full tasting notes please click)

I live in Istanbul where only 150 whisky expressions are available. So how did I manage to find 200 (some extremeley rare) new whiskies?

I travel a lot for business and use this opportunity to taste whiskies that I cannot find here. Plus this year I had the chance to visit Glenfiddich & The Balvenie distilleries in Speyside, Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Tennessee and Woodford Reserve in Kentucky. On my way back I spent 3 days in New York, giving me the opportunity to try the bourbons and ryes I had in my wishlist for long. My whisky club Maltın Gunu was also another source for the 200. I never miss Whisky Live and Whisky Show in London where I can taste some very rare or very expensive bottles.
