18 yaşında bir single malt viskinin etiketinde imzam olması viski yolculuğumun zirve noktalarından biri. Türkiye’nin ilk bağımsız şişeleyicisi KA Spirits olarak yarattığımız viski markası The Project W nun en yeni ekspresyonu The Project W OMAY 18 Tormore hazır.
3 sene önce 15 yıllıkken seçtiğim 2007 Tormore damıfımevi üretimi bir fıçımızın 18. yaşgününü 2025 Aralık ayında kutladık ve The Project W serisinin yaş belirtilen ilk viskisi olan OMAY Tormore 18’i şişeledik. 700541 numaralı ex-bourbon fıçısında 18 yıl olgunlaşan OMAY 18, cask strength olarak %60.5 alkol oranıyla, su ve renklendirici katılmadan, soğuk filtrasyon uygulanmadan ultra sınırlı bir edisyon olarak sadece 115 adet şişelendi. “Speyside’ın İncisi” olarak tanınan Tormore damıtımevi viskilerini çok beğendiğim bir damıtımevi; kurulduğundan bu yana üretilen viskiler Tormore markasıyla single malt olarak şişelenmedi ve ürettiği tüm viskiler Royal Salute ve Chivas harmanlarında kullanıldı.
The Project W OMAY 18 in etiket tasarımı Bombcrater Design’dan Jon Edwards tarafından yapıldı. Türkiye’nin ilk bağımsız şişeleyicisi olduğumuz için viskimize Türk dokunuşları vermek için Türk mitolojisinden esinlendik. “OMAY” adını Türk mitolojisindeki bereket ve doğurganlık tanrıçasından alıyor. The Project W OMAY 18 benim gibi Aralık doğumlu ve Yay burcu. Etikette eski Türk okçularını seçmemizin bir nedeni de bu.
The Project W OMAY 18 Tadım Notları
Oldukça yüksek alkolüne rağmen alkol yakıcılığı yok. Belirgin vanilya aromaları ve olgunlaşmış muz hatırlatan yoğun, tatlı bir burunla açılıyor. Damakta, ağzı kaplayan ve ağızın arkasına yerleşen harika bir sıcaklık hissi veriyor. Bal sürülmüş tereyağlı kızarmış ekmek ısırmış gibi. Çocukluğumuzun muzlu rulo pastalarını hatırlatıyor. Yüksek alkol düzeyine rağmen su isteyen viskilerden değil. Ancak birkaç damla su eklendiğinde de koku profili çok zenginleşiyor ve çiçeksi, meyvemsi burnu güçleniyor. Leylak ve lavanta kokuları ekleniyor. Koyu renkli, bol çekirdekli ufak mandalinaları anımsatan parlak narenciye notaları var.
Zarif bir bitişi var. %60,5 gibi yüksek bir alkole rağmen boğazda bir yakıcılık yok. Taze limonlu cheesecake yemiş hissi veren oldukça uzun bir bitişe sahip.

Türkiye’s first independent whisky bottler KA Spirits launched its highly anticipated new expression: The Project W Omay 18 Tormore Distillery. Marking a significant milestone for the brand, this release represents the first-ever age-statement bottling in The Project W portfolio. The name “Omay” roots from Turkish mythology; Umay (often associated with the name Omay) is the goddess of fertility & nature.
The Project W OMAY 18 is an exclusive, 18-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from the Speyside-based Tormore Distillery. Distilled in December 2007 and bottled in Scotland in 2025, this expression was matured in a single Ex-Bourbon barrel (Cask No. 700541) and yielded an ultra-limited run of just 115 bottles. It is presented in its most natural state, boasting a cask strength of 60.5% ABV without any chill filtration or added coloring, which preserves and highlights its refined, fruity, and generously layered flavor profile. The label designed by Jon Edwards of Bombcrater Design in Scotland, reflects the Turkish roots of the company with its archers and old Turkish design elements. Distilled and bottled in December, this whisky is a true Sagittarius—an adventurous and free-spirited expression that beautifully shares its zodiac sign with the master who carefully selected its cask. This inaugural age-statement release for the brand is priced at 240 GBP and sold out in one day.
Tasting Notes (Dr. Burkay Adalig)
Remarkably approachable for a high-proof spirit, it displays absolutely no alcohol burn. It opens with pronounced vanilla and the rich, thick sweetness of overripe banana. On the palate, it delivers a beautifully warming, mouth-coating texture that settles comfortably toward the back of the mouth. The flavor profile is deeply comforting and indulgent, evoking the distinct sensation of biting into warm, honey-drizzled buttered toast, seamlessly layered with the notes of a banana Swiss roll cake.
Unlike many cask-strength whiskies in this ABV range, it doesn’t desperately demand dilution, yet it reacts magnificently to a few drops. The addition of water triggers a vibrant explosion of floral and fruity complexities. Fragrant notes of blooming lilac and a nostalgic, clean whisper of lavender emerge, closely followed by a wave of bright citrus notes reminiscent of dark colored, heavily seeded tangerines.
Exceptionally graceful finish. Despite the formidable 60.5% ABV, it glides down the throat with a frictionless smoothness rarely seen at this strength. The finish is outstandingly long, lingering on the palate to leave a rich, zesty, and creamy final impression akin to a slice of fresh lemon cheesecake.
